	FRIEDMAN BROTHERS CWLG5 Williamsburg Mirror Friedman Bros. Model- #5541; Name- The Prince of Wales Looking Glass; Finish- Burl Walnut & Genuine 22k gold leaf; Beveled- YES; Condition- NEW; Size- 28" x 47"; Friedman Brothers original suggested retail price- $4700; This Georgian Chippendale features a Prince of Wales feather in gold. The fillet surrounding the beveled mirror plate is also in gold. The frame is finished in a beautiful burl. The original was made in England between 1740 and 1750 and hangs in the West Hall of Colonial Williamsburg’s Raleigh Tavern. Prince of Wales Looking Glass Introduced in 1938. In the American colonies during the early 18th century, those who wanted to buy looking glasses usually had to buy English imports, whose already high prices were increased substantially with the cost of shipping. The craftsmanship to make a mirror's frame required great skill and expertise. Plate glass was very expensive and time consuming to manufacture and had a high frequency of breakage. For these reasons, mirrors were highly treasured, expensive possessions. Later in the 1700s, however, new technologies for making plate glass helped lower the cost dramatically, and the colonial middle class clamored to purchase these stylish and newly affordable ways to reflect.

This bed is a Full Size Bed measuring 60” x 82” x 88”h, headboard is 31” and box spring will sit 8”H off the ground. The bed is model #CW-139 and is a copy of a period Chippendale original of the second 1/2 of the 18th century. The footposts are fluted and end in cabriole legs with large ball n claw carved feet. It will accommodate bedding that measures 54” x 76”. It is approx. 40 years old and has been professionally refinished by a retired Kittinger finisher. Features large ball and claw feet and bolt through construction with a nice dark mahogany finish. This is a fine example of a Colonial Williamsburg Bed in super clean condition ready for your home.

Solid wood lip drawers with high relief rinceau vine and leaf carving scrolling out from a low relief center shell motif on small center drawers. Four long drawers with locks. Solid wood end panels with scalloped bottom edge. Scalloped front rail with inverted shell motif. Cabriole leg with carved shell on knee terminating in ball and claw foot in the Philadelphia manner. Custom made solid brass pulls, escutcheons and locks.

The set consists of 8 fine shield back chairs measuring: 22" x 19" x 39" SH: 19". The wonderful table measures: 44.5" x 71" 29.5"h and has two 19.5" leaves. Table features solid Mahogany carved Duncan Phyfe pedestal base with solid brass capped feet. The top has nice satinwood cross banded border and a nice rich Mahogany finish. This set is only a few years old and is being sold from a model home in which we are currently liquidating. (the seats are still covered in plastic! I never say anything is mint or perfect, but this set is pretty much as close as they come, it was only on display while the builder was selling the home. It would nicely compliment and has similar quality construction and finish to items by Baker, Maitland Smith, Stickley etc.
